DRUNK DRIVER GETS SIX YEAR ROAD BAN

A Drunk Driver who had no insurance has been put off the road for six years.  Samuel McAllister aged 26 of Sundale close, Tallaght pleaded guilty to drunken driving no insurance and no driving license at The Old Belgard Road Tallaght on February 7 2012.  He also pleaded guilty to failing to comply with a gardas directions at Sundale Close on April 16 2011. Presenting Sergeant Carmel Henry told the Court that at 4.43am on February 7 last year she responded to a call that a black Mercedes was driving erratically on the Belgard Road.  She said the car had been driving between the kerb and the centre line .  McAllister was stopped and arrested on suspicion of drunken driving.  He was taken to Terenure Garda Station where he provided two breath samples. His breath level was 8.1mg/100ml.  She added that on April 16 last, the gardai had received a call to go to Sundale Close where McAllister was directed to leave the area but became aggressive and was arrested .  The court heard that McAllister had four previous convictions including a three year ban imposed in March 2011 for being drunk in charge and a six month ban from 2008 for no insurance .  Judge Brian Sheridan sentenced McAllister to three months jail suspended for 12 months and imposed a six year driving ban.

HID DRUGS IN GOLF BAG

A man who hid over €500 worth of cocaine in a golf bag has received community service in Tallaght Court. Judge Ann Ryan heard that Shane Cronin was going to share the cocaine with friends on a golf holiday. Cronin (34) with an address at Killinarden Estate, Tallaght pleaded guilty to simple possession of cocaine, simple possession of amphetamine and possession of cocaine for sale or supply at his home on November 25, 2010. He was later interviewed by Gardai and admitted he had the cocaine as he was going on a golf trip and was planning on sharing it with his friends. Cronin’s Solicitor Tanya Moeller said that Cronin was sharing the cocaine with friends and was not selling it or making profit from it, adding that the defendant was worried about the impact this would have on his family. Judge Ryan said Cronin should have thought about his family when he committed the offences. She sentenced Cronin to 200 hours community service with nine months imprisonment in default.

TEEN STOLE PENSIONERS PAINTINGS

A SCHOOL GIRL who stole pensioners paintings has been further remanded for a probation report by Tallaght Court.The 15 year old with an address in Rathfarnham had pleaded guilty to stealing paintings worth €150 from an activity centre in Firhouse on May 27 Last.She was before Judge John Lindsay for a probation report and one from the National Educational Welfare Board. Her solicitor asked Judge Lindsay to follow the recommendations in the report . The judge remanded her on continuing bail to a date in June for an updated report.

SIX MONTHS FOR HAVING STOLEN RINGS

A MAN who handled two stolen diamond ring has been sentenced to six months in jail.Michael Connors (22) with an address at Daletree Place in Firhouse had pleaded guilty to handling two stolen gold diamond rings at Ballycullen Road in Firhouse on November 11, 2010.He also pleaded guilty to damaging the wiper of a car in Firhouse on a date between June 17 and June 18, 2010. Connors was before Judge David McHugh in Tallaght Court for sentencing.His Solicitor Michael Hennessey said that Connors was currently serving a sentence and was due for release in January 2013. Objecting to legal aid , Sergeant Carmel Henry said Connors had been found in possession of a Rolex watch. Judge McHugh sentenced Connors to six months jail for handling offence and to six months suspended for two years for the criminal damage.

HEROIN ADDICT TRIED TO SWALLOW DRUGS WHILE BEING SEARCHED

It has been reported that Tallaght Court heard that Diane Cusack, 32, of Whitechurch Avenue, Rathfarnham, attempted to swallow a bag of heroin while she was being searched in Rathfarnham Garda Station on 29th December 2010.

€600 FINE FOR LITTERING

Brian Cox, with an address at Drumcairn Avenue, Tallaght, has received a fine of €600 for creating litter at the green area of the entrance of Drumcairn Gardens in Tallaght on 31st January 2011. Cox’s litter was identified by a prescription label with his name and address on it.

MAN WHO SHOUTED ABUSE AT LUAS STOP REMANDED ON BAIL

David Larkin, 31, with an address at Delaford Grove, Knocklyon, pleaded guilty to engaging in threatening and abusive behaviour at a Tallaght Luas stop on 12th January 2011. Garda John Hoare told Judge Victor Blake that on the above date, he witnessed Larkin drinking and shouting abuse at another man. Hoare asked Larkin to leave the area but he refused.  When Larkin continued to shout abuse he was arrested.

TEENAGER ACCUSED OF AGGRAVATED BURGLARY

A teenager, with an address in Tallaght, is accused of aggravated burglary of a house in Tallaght on 23rd October 2010.  The 17-year old is also accused of damaging all the front windows of the house and a locker on the above date.  Judge Victor Blake in Tallaght Court refused jurisdiction in the case.
