It has been reported that Tallaght Court heard that Diane Cusack, 32, of Whitechurch Avenue, Rathfarnham, attempted to swallow a bag of heroin while she was being searched in Rathfarnham Garda Station on 29th December 2010.

Cusack pleaded guilty to obstructing a garda by attempting to swallow a bag of heroin, simple possession of heroin and possession of heroin for sale or supply. She also pleased guilty to stealing groceries worth €16.39 from Tesco Nutgrove on 23rd April 2011.

The court heard that Cusack had 66 previous convictions. Cusack’s solicitor said that his client began taking heroin at the time of her Leaving Certificate and has been on heroin since.

Judge Victor Blake sentenced Cusack to three months jail for the dealing charge, to one month jail for the simple possession, to one month for the obstruction and to three months for the theft, all to run concurrently.
