€600 FINE FOR LITTERING

Brian Cox, with an address at Drumcairn Avenue, Tallaght, has received a fine of €600 for creating litter at the green area of the entrance of Drumcairn Gardens in Tallaght on 31st January 2011. Cox’s litter was identified by a prescription label with his name and address on it.

MAN WHO SHOUTED ABUSE AT LUAS STOP REMANDED ON BAIL

David Larkin, 31, with an address at Delaford Grove, Knocklyon, pleaded guilty to engaging in threatening and abusive behaviour at a Tallaght Luas stop on 12th January 2011. Garda John Hoare told Judge Victor Blake that on the above date, he witnessed Larkin drinking and shouting abuse at another man. Hoare asked Larkin to leave the area but he refused.  When Larkin continued to shout abuse he was arrested.

JUDGE SUSAN DENHAM APPOINTED CHIEF JUSTICE

According to news reports, the government has taken the necessary steps to advise President Mary McAleese to appoint Mrs. Justice Denham as the next Chief Justice. She will take over from the current Chief Justice Mr. Justice John Murray when his 7 year tenure comes to an end later this month.

BARRISTERS SEEK TO POSTPONE CUTS IN FEES

According to Carol Coulter of The Irish Times, the Bar Council has appealed to Minister for Justice Alan Shatter to postpone changes in the criminal legal aid scheme until October so that discussions on alternative means of cost-saving can take place.

TEENAGER ACCUSED OF AGGRAVATED BURGLARY

A teenager, with an address in Tallaght, is accused of aggravated burglary of a house in Tallaght on 23rd October 2010.  The 17-year old is also accused of damaging all the front windows of the house and a locker on the above date.  Judge Victor Blake in Tallaght Court refused jurisdiction in the case.

FIVE MONTHS FOR VICIOUS ASSAULT

On 21st June 2010, Gillian Mills had been walking along Tallaght High Street when Darren Byrne viciously attacked her by grabbing her by the hair and throwing her against a wall.  Byrne, aged 39, with an address at Kilmartin Avenue, Tallaght, had pleaded not guilty to assaulting Ms Mills on the above date.

ARSON ACCUSED IN COURT NO SHOW

A MAN accused of arson “left” court before his case was called.  Kinsella aged 32 with an address at Parkwood Grove, Aylesbury, Tallaght Haven House Hostel is accused of arson by damaging 2 apartments at The Bungalow, Blessington Road, Tallaght on June 12.He is also accused of arson by damaging a truck and a Ford Fiesta at The Bungalow on the above date.  The case was before Tallaght District Court for service of The Book of Evidence but there was no sign of Kinsella.  A solicitor for the DPP said that the Book was ready to be served but when Judge James McDonnell asked Kinsella’s Solicitor  Padraig O’Donovan where his client was he replied “he’s not here. He was here. He left”  The Judge issued a bench warrant for Kinsellas arrest.
