John Glynn & Co recently settled a defamation case

By solicitor
Monday, 25th March 2013

 Brief history/description of the case:

The client was falsely accused of stealing condoms at a large main street Chemist. He was accosted on the street by a Security Guard having left the premises and brought back to the chemist where both he and his girlfriend’s bag was searched in the presence of Gardai. Nothing was found. He was subsequently advised that the Chemist had admitted their mistake and were arguing the matter with their Security Company.

Settlement:

John Glynn & Co formally requested an immediate apology and suitable proposal for compensation following the appalling treatment of their client. A sum of €5,000 compensation plus costs was recovered. Had the defamation been published or spoken in front of other persons, the damages would have been greater.
