MAN JAILED FOR NO INSURANCE

HAVING no insurance saw a man jailed for four months and put off the road for 30 months by Tallaght Court.  Sean Haide aged 27 with an address at Cloonmore Crescent, Tallaght, pleaded guilty to having no insurance and no driving license on July 31st 2011 and again on August 1, 2011, both in Tallaght .  Judge John Coughlan heard that Haide had been stopped by Gardai on both these dates and later failed to produce his documents.  The Court heard that Haide had four previous convictions for no insurance.  Judge Coughlan sentenced Haide to four months jail and disqualified him for driving for 30 years.

Shatter Says Bill to Fight Corruption due Shortly

Mr Shatter said that the new Criminal Justice Bill would clarify and reform laws dating back to 1889 so that anti-corruption measures were made clearer and more accessible. In the light of the self-examination sparked by the reports of the Moriarty and Mahon tribunals, Mr Shatter said that the response of Government to reform would be “the mark of our integrity as ministers and parliamentarians”.

A teenager who became violent when arrested has been sentenced to Community service by Tallaght Court.  Daragh Brown aged 18 with an address at Allenton Avenue pleaded guilty to breaching the peace and failing to comply with a gardas directions at Belgard Road Tallaght on June 26 2011.

MAN TO FACE TRIAL ON RAID CHARGES

A MAN accused of the knife robbery of a service station has been sent forward for trial to the Circuit Court (raid charges).  Jonathon Byrne was before Judge John O’Neill in Tallaght Court for service of his book of evidence.  A Solicitor for the DPP Catherine Irvine, told Judge O’Neill that the book of evidence was ready to be served.  She said the DPP had consented for Byrne to be sent forward for trial to the next sitting of Dublin Circuit Court.  Byrne aged 28 with an address at Tymonville Drive Tallaght is charged with robbing €175 from the Topaz filling Station Greenhills Road Tallaght on March 29, 2011.  He is also charged with producing a knife at the topaz filling station on the above date.  Judge O’Neill sent Byrne forward on bail of €200 to the next sitting of the Circuit Court.

DRUNK DRIVER GETS SIX YEAR ROAD BAN

A Drunk Driver who had no insurance has been put off the road for six years.  Samuel McAllister aged 26 of Sundale close, Tallaght pleaded guilty to drunken driving no insurance and no driving license at The Old Belgard Road Tallaght on February 7 2012.  He also pleaded guilty to failing to comply with a gardas directions at Sundale Close on April 16 2011. Presenting Sergeant Carmel Henry told the Court that at 4.43am on February 7 last year she responded to a call that a black Mercedes was driving erratically on the Belgard Road.  She said the car had been driving between the kerb and the centre line .  McAllister was stopped and arrested on suspicion of drunken driving.  He was taken to Terenure Garda Station where he provided two breath samples. His breath level was 8.1mg/100ml.  She added that on April 16 last, the gardai had received a call to go to Sundale Close where McAllister was directed to leave the area but became aggressive and was arrested .  The court heard that McAllister had four previous convictions including a three year ban imposed in March 2011 for being drunk in charge and a six month ban from 2008 for no insurance .  Judge Brian Sheridan sentenced McAllister to three months jail suspended for 12 months and imposed a six year driving ban.

Award of €206,000 for Injury
