DRUNK DRIVER HAD SIX PASSENGERS

A drunk driver who had six passengers in his Volkswagon Passat when stopped by a garda will not be driving again for 2 years, Tallaght Court has heard.  Garda Dara Gaskin told the Court that he stopped John ODonoghue because he was driving erratically.

Garda Gaskin said There were five people in the back Donoghue was arrested and taken to Terenure Garda Station where his alcohol breath level was 75mg/100ml.  Judge James McDonnell quipped to Garda Gaskin Did he (ODonoghue) give any explanation to the unorthodox method of conveyance? No.

ODonoghue, aged 20, with an address at St. Aongus Court, Tallaght, pleaded guilty to drunken driving at the Citywest Road.   ODonoghues solicitor John OLeary said his client works for South Dublin County Council.  Judge James McDonnell fined ODonoghue 250 and disqualified him from driving for two years.
