A TECHIE Tallaght solicitor has created a unique accident-recording application for the iPhone.

John Glynn, of John Glynn & Company Solicitors, has invented a novel way for those involved in an accident to record information at the scene - including video and audio footage. Once downloaded for free onto an iPhone, the application will ask users to input their personal details which will be stored on the programme.

In the event of an accident, users simply input the details of their mishap along with photographs, video footage or audio and e-mail it to John and his team - who will respond with free legal advice.

When asked why he created this application, Mr Glynn explained: "This application will help people record exactly what happened at the time of an accident and means that the information is fresh in their mind. It also acts as a permanent record."

With more than 250,000 iPhones in the country, Mr Glynn believes that such applications are the way forward for his business and he already has another one in the pipeline.

He continued: "I am a bit of a techie and was one of the first Irish solicitors to have a website on the go." "Keeping abreast of technology is absolutely vital and I believe that phone technology will take over in the coming years - to survive businesses need to stay on top of it."

When quizzed if he thinks people could abuse the application, Mr Glynn said: " People have a duty to report an accident and what I have created helps them to record and deal with that accident in an easy way. We will also send them immediate free advice and can arrange for them to meet with us."

Interested iPhone users can download the application from the gadget's App Store facility.
