A High Court action was settled by a senior fitness coach with Munster Rugby FC over an alleged attempt to make him redundant and have him replaced.

Dr Tom Comyns obtained a temporary injunction earlier this month to prevent the IRFU from advertising or filling the position of fitness coach. In lieu of the High Court order, the IRFU later gave an undertaking in those terms.

On the 27th of April last, Dr Comyns claimed that he was told “out of the blue” that his job was to be made redundant and the position readvertised.

Yesterday, Ms Justice Mary Laffoy was told by Marguerite Bolger SC, for Dr Comyns, that the matter had settled and it had been agreed that previous orders could be vacated and the entire proceedings struck out.
