Gardai were last night investigating claims by a 14 year old girl that she was raped in a field.  The teenager alleged that she was sexually assaulted on the southside of Limerick City. 
Family members contacted officers at 10pm on Monday.  Yesterday, an area in a field was examined by Officers from Roxboro Road Garda Station.  The girl underwent medical and forensic examination at a Cork hospital  yesterday.  A garda spokesman said that the matter was being treated as very serious.
